I turned that off on the chance that would fix the issue, but it did not. I did keep it on the battery limit mode for like 95% of that time though. I don't want to get another one that will have a worse issue than what I have and I'm also unsure of the quality for the replacements.Īs a side note I've only kept my SLS on my desk for most of ownership, I've never dropped it or mishandled it. I was curious if anyone else has encountered a similar issue and if they were able to fix it short of getting a refurbished replacement? I did get the 3year Microsoft Complete coverage, so I at least have that as a last resort my only concern there is the quality of the refurbished replacements. I've reset Windows and made sure I'm up to date with all drivers and firmware.

It almost sounds like some electrical arcing is happening since I don't believe there are any moving parts near the charging port and keyboard area. It also seems to be the loudest when I haven't used the laptop for a few days. It seems to happen when the laptop is under load and getting warmer.

I initially thought it was coming from the charging cable, but I noticed it still made that noise regardless of whether it was connected or not. I've had my SLS for just over a year now (got it December 2021 16gb, 512gb with Nvidia GPU), and it recently developed this odd intermittent clicking/ticking sound at the base near the charging port.
